How to Maintain your Mattress and Bed Frame

The bed is more than just a place to crash. A bed is an investment in comfort, support, and sleep quality. Here’s how you can keep your mattress and bed frame in top shape for years to come.

1. Rotate Your Mattress Regularly

Mattresses wear unevenly over time — especially if you sleep on the same side.

Tip: Rotate it 180° every 3–6 months. Some mattresses also need flipping — check your model.

2. Let It Breathe

Your mattress needs airflow to stay fresh.

Tip: Strip your bed once a week and let the mattress air out for an hour or two. Bonus: sunshine helps kill bacteria!

3. Use a Mattress Protector

Spills, sweat, dust mites — protect your mattress from it all.

Tip: A good-quality, washable mattress protector extends the life of your bed and keeps things hygienic.

4. Tighten Screws and Bolts on Your Frame

Bed frames can loosen over time, especially if you move house or have kids jumping on them.

Tip: Check joints and bolts every 3–6 months. A quick tighten = no annoying creaks or squeaks.

5. Clean the Frame Properly

Dust and grime can build up around slats and joints.

Tip: Vacuum underneath regularly. Use a damp cloth on wood or metal (no harsh chemicals!).

6. Watch for Sagging or Sinking

If your mattress feels less supportive or has visible dips, it may be time to reassess.

Tip: Make sure your frame offers even support — especially for queen and king beds. Slats should be strong and evenly spaced.

7. Don’t Overload Your Bed

No, your bed isn’t a trampoline.

Tip: Avoid overloading your frame with weight beyond its rating — especially with storage underneath or heavier mattresses.

A little care goes a long way. Whether you scored your bed at one of our clearance sales or brought it in years ago, these simple steps can keep it comfy, quiet, and clean for longer.
